
Edgar Alandia , born in Bolivia, graduated in Composition
and Orchestral Conducting from the Conservatorio and Accademia
Nazionale di S. Cecilia, Rome. In 1978 he won the Premio
Internazionale di Composizione "V. Bucchi" with
the composition "Pampa" for clarinet and orchestra.
In 1981 he received Honorable Mention in the International
Composition Competition "I. Carreño"
of Caracas with the composition "Canto de hoy"
for soloist, chorus and orchestra. In 1982, "Sajsayhuaman"
for orchestra was selected for the Venice Exhibition "Opera
Prima".
His compositions have been performed in many different
reviews and contemporary music festivals and programmed
in many important european and american concert seasons.
Since 1983 he has been director of the instrumental group
"Nuove Forme Sonore". He is involved in professional
activities in Bolivia, Italy and Belgium, where he works
with the Ballet du XXème Siècle of M. Béjart.
His compositions are published by Ricordi, Milano; Edipan
and BMG Ariola, Rome; Musicino, Madrid and recorded on
CD by Ouverture, Edipan, BMG Ariola, Fonit Cetra, Lim
Record and IRCO "Raíces Americanas".
At present he is instructor of Harmony and Counterpoint
at the Conservatorio di Musica "F. Morlacchi"
di Perugia and at the Accademia AIDA.
